There has been many iterations of this page, but it's about time it gets updated and we join the 21st Century.

Welcome to Al-Asfaar, my digital home. The plan is to combine all my writings, thoughts and projects into one place. This will be more or less that main FAQ-page for the site.

What is Al-asfaar?

There is a book, Al-Asfaar Al-Arbah - which roughly translates to the Journey of the Four Souls. I really liked the concept and decided I wanted the site to be a chronicle of my Journey.

Instead of Four Souls, I split my psyche into four parts: my mind, the part that does all the scribbles; the heard, the part that has all the feelings and thughts; the spirit, the part that helps me learn about religion  and develop faith; and world, the part that cares about what is happening outside of my world, regardless of whether it's fiction or not.

Where Do I Find Stuff?

There will be posts in various sections of the site, and if I am doing this right, then the latest updates will be showing up on the main page.

What software is the site running?

I've been using Movable Type for years, and it was perfectly adequated for my needs. A few years ago, I decided to branch out and see what other systems were out there, and after many trials and tweaks later, have returned to MT. Drupal is fantastic, but what I am running here is just not fancy enough or complex to need it. Plone was a difficult setup and WordPress just doesn't quite appeal to me as much as MT does, so I will just focus on getting whatever I need out of this system.
